“Hold the ketchup, please.” said no one ever!  Ketchup has got to be one of the most beloved condiments of all time.  It tastes great on everything in my opinion.  I’m the person that puts ketchup on everything from French fries to scrambled eggs.  My son went so far as to spend one solid year of his life surviving on ketchup sandwiches.  So how could there ever be too much ketchup? Here is my experience.  Because of my deep love for the tomato condiment, I…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Ketchup – How To Freeze Ketchup”

Boiled potatoes are one of my daughter’s all-time most requested foods.  She just loves boiled potatoes and truth be told, so do I.  Soft, warm, salty and buttery, they’re just delicious. Boiled potatoes will last about a week in the refrigerator, but I honestly like them used up before that.  So what happens when even my family can’t eat up all the potatoes I boiled or I simply over bought at the supermarket and don’t’ want to waste all though spuds? Can You Freeze Boiled…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Boiled Potatoes – How To Freeze Boiled Potatoes”

Fresh, sweet, slightly warm donuts; is there anyone that doesn’t love them?  I could not imagine it.  I do know that my children really love donuts.  From powdered sugar donut holes to icing covered, filling stuffed donuts, they love them all.  Of course these special treats are best enjoyed fresh, but what if after everyone has fulfilled their sugar needs leftover donuts still remain? Cherries are one of the best parts of summer.  Fresh, ripe, juicy berries mean summer is in full swing.  Thanks to creative harvesting, cherries are available from early May through August.  There is an extensive array of cherry varieties available today.  Bing cherries are probably the most recognizable with their deep red color and trademark heart shape.  Rainier cherries are also popular with their yellow skin and flesh with a slight blush.  Although these many varieties have subtle flavor and color differences, the classic juicy…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Cherries – How To Freeze Cherries”

Crab cakes are so good!  What else can you say?  They are just decadent.  Everyone has a preference for the ones they love the best, but I guess I’m just not too picky.  I think they’re all great!  Of course, crab cakes made with fresh lump crab meat with only the slightest amount of bread or cracker filling, definitely taste the most authentic. It’s important I think to get the best, freshest lump crab meat you can find.  Good quality crab meat can be a…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Crab Cakes – How To Freeze Crab Cakes”

I have a real issue with snacking.  I swear I’m like a little kid I love my snacks so much!  One of my favorite things to munch on is chips or veggies with dip.  I’m not too picky but as a rule I really love the super fatty, cheesy dips.  So…since I know this isn’t the best option and my super-healthy husband turns up his nose in total disbelieve that I would even consider eating something like that, I have started making my own dips…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Black Bean Dip – How To Freeze Black Bean Dip”

Several years ago, my husband and I took an amazing trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  It was absolutely amazing in every way.  Seriously, the Mexican people are so special.  One of my favorite little snacks to order while lounging by the pool was the crudité platter.  So refreshing!  My absolute favorite part was the jicama sticks.  They were completely new to me and I fell madly in love with them.  Crunchy and kind of starchy but not heavy, they were perfect. At the time…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Jicama – How To Freeze Jicama”

Figs are such a pretty little fruit.  They have been around absolutely forever and are quite ubiquitous in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cultures.  They can be enjoyed raw, roasted, in jams, or any number of recipes.  Those little beauties pack a heck of a punch nutritionally as well.  Full of vitamins, calcium and fiber, they are a perfect addition to a healthy diet.  So let’s talk about what to do with those figs from supermarket or farm box to actually eating them. Figs are in…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Raw Figs – How To Freeze Raw Figs”

Kombucha was brought to my attention by a dear friend who also happens to always be trying out the latest “health nut” fad.  Truth be told, she’s a very healthy person and I absolutely admire her consistency with her health.  If only I could go more than one day vowing to never eat potato chips again! Anyway, when she told me not just that she was drinking kombucha but making it as well I was a little intrigued.  What kind of weird witch’s brew was…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Kombucha – How To Freeze Kombucha”

Injera has been my answer to my family standoff on teff.  Yes, I am aware that I could freeze teff but my real problem is how to use it and make everyone at the table happy. My husband loves teff just cooked as is and used as a rice replacement.  I’m of the opinion that that seems a little boring so I stumbled across injera.  It is an Ethiopian flatbread made of teff which stands to reason since teff is an indigenous Ethiopian grain. This…Continue Reading “Can You Freeze Injera – How To Freeze Injera”
